Eric Norris is proud to call Laramie County home. He is running for Laramie County Sheriff because he believes strong communities are built on trust, accountability, and a commitment to keeping families safe. With years of experience in law enforcement and deep roots in the community, Eric understands the responsibility that comes with protecting our neighbors, supporting the men and women who serve, and working side-by-side with the people of Laramie County.
His focus is simple: keep our communities safe, support our deputies, and lead the Sheriff’s Office with honesty, integrity, and transparency.

Eric Norris has spent 18 years serving and protecting the people of Laramie County. He currently serves as a Sergeant with the Cheyenne Police Department, where he supervises the Crime Prevention Unit. In this role, Eric works to stop crime before it starts by partnering with residents, businesses, and community organizations to identify problems early and develop practical solutions.
Throughout his career, Eric has built a reputation for steady leadership, accountability, and a commonsense approach to public safety.
Before joining the Cheyenne Police Department, Eric served as a Detention Deputy with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.
This experience gave him firsthand knowledge of the detention system, inmate management, and the daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office. Understanding both patrol and detention operations has given Eric a well-rounded perspective on how the entire public safety system works together to protect the community.
Eric is committed to staying current with modern policing practices and continuing to improve his skills as a leader.
Over the course of his career, he has completed more than 1,400 hours of professional training and continuing education. This training covers a wide range of law enforcement topics, ensuring he stays prepared to address evolving public safety challenges and lead a department that serves the community effectively.
Over the course of his career, Eric has served in several specialized and leadership roles, helping strengthen officer training, professionalism, and preparedness.
• Firearms Instructor, ensuring officers are trained safely and effectively
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, teaching responsible high-skill driving in critical situations
• Field Training Officer, mentoring and preparing new officers entering the profession
• K-9 Handler, supporting patrol operations and assisting with investigationsBefore beginning his career in law enforcement, Eric proudly served four years in the United States military in Security Forces.
During his service, he developed the discipline, leadership, and mission-focused mindset that continue to guide his work in law enforcement today. His military background helped shape his strong sense of duty and commitment to serving others.
